I love art, I love pictures, I love turning houses into homes and most of all, I love connecting with people over their art. I love finding out what makes the pieces that I'm hanging special to them.
Getting to know people and their art helps when they ask my advice about where and how to hang their paintings, photos and mirrors. You see, there's more to picture hanging than knowing how to use a tape measure, or the right fixture for each wall type. Hanging a picture properly also means understanding how the picture works with the people who will be sharing the space.
In acting terms, some artworks demand centre stage, while others work best as part of an ensemble cast. Understanding how people feel about their artworks helps me understand which of their pieces should be treated as solo acts, which work better with co-stars, and which are ensemble actors, to be hung in a gallery wall with other much-loved pieces.
